Google is a powerful beast. Mere seconds after we received the request for collard greens, Paula Deen was there onscreen to help. So we winged it. The engaged couple in for a Caribbean tasting must have been pretty skeptical about us, but the guy actually gave us mad props on them! We did grilled jerk chicken, the greens, and peas and rice. Beautiful!
So Erin hit it out of the park again, and got her soul food chops. We contemplated an institutional account, and the jury's still out. But bidding on cooking three meals a day for 50-200 is another prospect entirely. It changes the game.
A collection of musings from our adventures at Sage Garden Catering, our still-infant catering company. Check us out at www.sagegardencatering.com and get hungry!

Wow!
Holy Cow, we're in month six! I can't believe it. Time flies when you're having fun. In the past two weeks:
We had a massive flood! The landlord stepped in and was eager to help after he took a look inside and saw two inches of water on the floor. I was more than happy to hand him a mop and give him a bill for the damage.
Word is getting out! We're getting calls now from people who have just found us on google or saw a menu of ours laying around! Huzzah!
We just ordered more business cards and magnets with our new and improved logo.
We're hiring an accountant so we don't have to run from the taxman.
We're leaner and meaner than ever, after firing both our cooks! (turns out they were @#$%ing up more than we thought) Yikes! Actually, we're pretty happy with the decision, as it lets us keep a little bit of what comes in every day! (not to mention have total control over our business)
I'm doing a bit of SEO (that's search engine optimization for the newbs), considering outsourcing our craigslist posting (which has been going really well) to India, and I've canceled our facebook ads (140,000 impressions, 9 clicks, 93% bounce rate = no bueno)
More updates to follow.
